Help is needed Wednesday to decorate the gravesites of veterans in anticipation of Memorial Day. Preston Sharp, a Redding native who has become nationally famous for placing American flags and carnations on the gravesites of thousands of veterans over the years, has gone to Normandy, France for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. The organization he founded, “Veterans Flags and Flowers”, is carrying on his work in his absence. Volunteers are needed at 3:30PM Wednesday afternoon to distribute the flags and flowers at the nNrthern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo. More help will be needed in a week, on the 29th, when it comes time to gather them up again.
