The Sacramento River will shrink dramatically in the coming days. On Tuesday releases by the Bureau of Reclamation will drop from 7,000 to 6,000 cubic feet per second. In a gradual series of steps each day, the releases will decrease until the end of next week when it’s be down to just 4,000 CFS. Toward the end of February the river was reaching flood levels as the Bureau was releasing 35,000 cubic feet per second. Lake Shasta is 22 feet from the crest of the dam. That’s 23 feet higher than it was at this time last year and 105 feet higher than it was in 2022.
