Water Releases Will Drop To 40,000 CFS After Peaking Over 63,000 CFS Earlier This Week

It’s not possible to say yet what the monetary cost of the flooding will turn out to be, partly because much of the area around the Sacramento River and other waterways is still underwater. Bureau of Reclamation releases from Keswick Dam peaked at 4AM Tuesday at more than 63,400 cubic feet per second. Wednesday morning the releases are still over 62,000 CFS. The Bureau will reduce the releases overnight tonight to 40,000 CFS. Lake Shasta is 26 feet from the crest of Shasta Dam.
