Woman Indicted After Federal Investigation Into Child Sexual Abuse

A federal investigation into child sexual abuse by a Siskiyou County man has ensnared his girlfriend as well. In February of last year, a search was done at a home in Montague that resulted in the arrest of the boyfriend for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under age 14. Digital devices, computers and electronic storage media was seized at the time of the arrest and a forensic review apparently has revealed that 41-year-old Shasta Schnittker and the boyfriend had met online and discussed child sexual abuse material. She allegedly had a lot of videos and photos of such material saved on her laptop computer. She was indicted by a federal grand jury on Thursday. If convicted Schnittker could face up to 20 years in federal prison.
