Work Crews Remove Nearly 8 Tons Of Debris From Area Homeless Camps

Redding Police Community Work Program Officers and Park Rangers have been clearing a lot of debris from abandoned homeless camps this week. Almost 16,000 Pounds of material was removed from areas near Lake Boulevard and Mountain Lakes Boulevard, as well as in Parkview Park next to the Cypress Avenue Bridge. Police and fire personnel were advised by Fish and Game Officers about the least impactful way to clean out trash from waterways without causing too much further damage to the ecosystem. Over the past year the Community Work Program has hauled more than 329,000 Pounds of trash to the dump.
