Shasta County’s unemployment rate of 5.3% for October was up a little from the 4.9% last October, and little changed from September’s 5.2%. There are 200 fewer people in the workforce compared to last year. Job losses were seen year-over in manufacturing, as well as accommodation and food services. Small gains were seen in construction and in private education and health services. Tehama County had a 6% jobless rate last month, while it was 5.1% in Trinity County and 5.7% in Siskiyou County. The rate for California was 5.4% and it was 3.9% nationally.
