Shasta County’s unemployment rate has remained very steady. December’s 5.4% jobless rate is the same as the previous December and little changed form the 5.3% in November. There were slight year-over boosts in state government jobs and construction, and slight downturns in manufacturing and transportation. There were a thousand more people in the labor force than a year prior. Tehama County had a 6.3% unemployment rate. It was 5.8% in Trinity County and 7.3% in Siskiyou County. The statewide rate was 5.2% and it was 3.8% nationally.
