A fire in the Igo/Ono area was aggressively attacked Tuesday by a multi-agency response led by Cal-Fire. The “Yolla Fire” was first reported at around 10:30AM off Yolla Bolly Road and Cottonwood Creek Road south of Platina. At last word the fire was mapped at just over 19 acres of grass and Oak woodland with 70% containment. Firefighters are dealing with steep and rugged terrain but reported good progress Tuesday afternoon despite the heat, saying it was mostly boxed in with retardant lines, which are still being strengthened by ground crews. With extreme temperatures and gusty north winds, there is a Red Flag fire danger warning in effect for Shasta County.
