In a partnership with Coleman Fish Hatchery, the people at Turtle Bay Exploration Park have been raising some Chinook Salmon, which will be released Friday. Calling it a “Conservation Head Start”, the secure controlled environment is a safe way to get a population of the endangered species at least through the first couple of steps on the long journey that makes the Salmon life cycle. Spending one year at Turtle Bay, the fish have grown from about a half inch to a healthy 2 or 3 inches. The public is invited to observe as they’ll be set free into the Sacramento River at the Sundial Bridge at 4:30PM Friday afternoon.
