A fugitive wanted on a murder charge was captured after a pursuit by Corning Police Thursday evening. Officers say they tried to stop a car for expired registration but the driver failed to yield, leading them on a chase on Highway 99-W and Olivewood Road at more than 80 miles an hour. After the car went through a wire fence the driver jumped out an ran. 51-year-old Francisco Topete of Washington State was found hiding in a creek bed and booked on a homicide warrant from Yuba County, as well as evading with wanton disregard for safety, giving a fake ID, bringing drugs into jail and more. His bail is a Million Dollars. A passenger, Andrew Eddy of Red Bluff was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and released.
