A retired Redding CHP Officer has been sentenced after pleading guilty in April to federal child pornography charges. 53-year-old Timothy Allen Horwath was a Patrol Officer working the Redding Area during the 8 months of 2019 that, during his off-time, he knowingly received pictures of children engaging in sexual conduct. The images showed children as young as 3 or 4 years being sexually abused by adult males. His pre-trial release was revoked in February when he violated the conditions by accessing the Internet and using smart phones and tablets to access the social media platform WhatsApp and have sexually-charged conversations with dozens of women. Horwath has been sentenced to 10 years and one month in federal prison, 10 years of parole and pay a total of $58,000 in restitution and assessments. He could have been given the maximum of 20 years.
