A 36-year-old man reportedly led Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies on a chase after opening fire on a car. At 3:45AM Monday morning deputies were called to a home on Circle K Drive in Shingletown on a report that Andrew Giovanni Baides had fired multiple rounds at an unoccupied vehicle and then left the scene, taking a teenage passenger with him. The teenager was communicating with dispatchers on a cell phone with the vehicle’s location as they traveled east on Highway 44, allowing deputies to catch up on Highway 89 in Hat Creek. They tried to stop the vehicle but Baides reportedly led them on a chase at up to 90 miles an hour for about 7 miles until he gave up at Four Corners in Johnson Park. He was booked into jail on $50,000 bail.
