Shasta County’s appointed Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis sent a letter to the Secretary of State’s Office in September claiming he had received multiple death threats. He says he believes they have been generated by members of groups including “Antifa” and “Shasta Exposed”. He says he was going to refer the threats to Homeland Security, the F.B.I. and the Justice Department because he theorizes that the threats were made by some of the same people who have sent many letters of complaint to the Secretary of State alleging improper procedures in the Shasta County Elections Department. Most of Curtis’ letter dwells on his contentions that previous administrators had compromised election integrity, citing extensive hearsay of his allegations and saying that prior years’ problems were hidden from the public. Curtis has repeatedly claimed that prior elections were poorly run and potentially corrupt, though he acknowledges having no proof of that. Much of his criticisms are focused on last November’s election, which was a mess because many of the ballots were incompatible with the machines that were purchased after the Dominion Machines were sent back by the Board of Supervisors.
