Man Caught After Swimming Across River in Escape Attempt

Two people allegedly running from police tried to get away the cold way Thursday afternoon. At 4:30 Redding Police pulled over a stolen Nissan Frontier pickup near Placer and Market Streets. The driver yielded, but then sped away. Officers lost sight of the truck in the Garden Tract, but someone pointed it out to them on Park Marina Drive. with help from a CHP helicopter, two people were seen running away. 23-year-old Aliyah Hethcote of Red Bluff was captured on the edge of the Sacramento River south of the Highway 44 bridge. 27-year-old Agustine Corona of Corning swam all the way across the river and was caught at the North Bechelli Dog Park. He had multiple felony warrants. Police searched the truck and found methamphetamine and many ID cards and credit cards belonging to other people.
