There was a serious boat collision on Lake Shasta Saturday afternoon. It happened at around 1:30PM in the Packers Bay Inlet. One of the boats was stationary and the other rammed it broadside at high speed. Upon impact, all of the occupants of the moving boat were thrown into the stationary boat. Fortunately none of them went into the water because none of the 10 people on the two boats were wearing life jackets. Three people were transported to a hospital with moderate-to-major injuries. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Boating Safety Unit recommends that all boat passengers wear personal flotation devices.
