City Of Redding Reviewing Preparations After “50 Year” Rain Event

The City of Redding has been reviewing the events surrounding the flooding of December 21st and evaluating the preparation and response by city crews. The storm drain system was quickly overwhelmed in many areas by what’s being called a 50-year rain event. Homes and businesses that were damaged by flood waters should be reported at cityofredding.gov/emergency so it can be submitted to the state for relief assistance.

There’s also a “multi-agency resource center” being set up by the Red Cross with several other non-profit agencies to provide material relief as well as physical and mental health counseling. It’ll be set up this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Northern Valley Catholic Social Services, located at 2400 Washington Avenue off Park Marina Drive.
