Tuesday night the Redding City Council will talk about the Redding Civic Auditorium, and the private organization that’s been managing it for the last 14 years. The 50-year-old public venue is on a long term lease to Advance Redding, which has been unable to make ends meet since the departure of their most consistent source of income, the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministries. Last year Advance Redding said it could no longer afford the interior maintenance and utility costs that are part of the lease agreement, and they convinced the City Council to grant them the deferred maintenance account of $675,000. The council also canceled the rent through this month, and tonight they’ll consider extending that rent-free status.
