The Bureau of Reclamation is warning the public to use caution along the banks of the Sacramento River during April and May due to rapidly changing water levels. They’re called “pulse flows”, and they’ll be done several times in the coming weeks. The sudden change in river intensity is designed to help juvenile Spring-run Chinook Salmon as they make their journey to the sea. The first pulse flow occurs Wednesday night as volume will increase from around 5,000 to 10,000 cubic feet per second.
