The City of Anderson is boasting about a crime rate that’s hit a 5 year low. Between 2024 and 2025 there was an 8% drop in “part one” crimes, which include homicide, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, larceny and car theft. While the majority of those crimes decreased, the number of reported rapes increased by almost three-fold. Overall the category included 230 incidents, down from a peak of 468 in 2022. Violent crimes saw a drop of 21% while the overall property crime rate was nearly unchanged. Anderson Police made a total of 720 arrests last year, compared to 828 the previous year and 1,820 in 2022. The number of traffic collisions resulting in injury dropped by half between 2024 and 2025. DUI crashes dropped from 66 to 54. 735 traffic citations were issued last year, up from 576 the prior year.
