Shasta County will host an Ironman triathlon event later this year and the Redding Chamber of Commerce is trying to build local enthusiasm with a meet and greet Tuesday. Around 2,500 athletes are expected to participate in the event, known as “Ironman 70.3 Northern California”. It’ll take place August 16th starting with a swim in Whiskeytown Lake, followed by a biking and running course. It’s expected to bring about $10 Million of economic impact to local businesses. Organizers will engage with the public and answer questions at a meet-and-greet event Tuesday afternoon from 4PM to 5PM at the Westside Tap & Cork at 1321 Butte Street off Pine Street in Downtown Redding.
