Illegal Mining Case Dropped Due To Lack Of Courtrooms

A man accused of illegal mining practices has had his case dismissed due to a lack of an available courtroom. David Sandoval was charged with two counts involving the possession and use of suction dredge equipment. The Shasta County District Attorney’s Office was ready for trial and was awaiting assignment by the courts when the statutory time limit was reached. Because the charges were misdemeanors the case cannot be refiled and it’s permanently dismissed.
