A special meeting by the Shasta County Board of Supervisors Tuesday may result in an official censure of Clerk and Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis. The staff report does not detail the specific conduct that would prompt the censure, but the resolution lists some sections of the county personnel rules that prohibit threatening, malicious and abusive conduct against employees and volunteers. The resolution says violations of managerial misconduct were reported to the board on April 21st. Curtis was appointed by the board on a 3 to 2 vote last April, after which he promptly fired Assistant Registrar Joanna Francescut without a stated reason. She’s running against him in the June election. In the Fall Curtis was rebuked by the board for his selective treatment of media. He’s also been accused of mistreating election workers who speak up about procedures. Tuesday’s discussion and vote will take place in open session.
