51 state fire crews from all over Northern California will participate in an intensive series of training drills in Tehama County. The 41st annual Ishi Crew Preparedness Exercise is next week in the Paynes Creek area. Crews will hike about 3.5 miles into the incident site, build 300 feet of fire line in heavy brush and deploy fire shelters in a simulated emergency. Firefighters taking part will include Cal Fire, the Department of Corrections, the California Conservation Corps and military crews.
