A Redding high school student has been announced as the winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition for California’s First Congressional District. Kaitlyn Raftery is a Senior at University Preparatory School. This year’s theme was “America, a 250 Year Celebration of Liberty” and Kaitlyn won with her painting entitled “The Fight for Freedom”. The artwork will be displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol, and Kaitlyn will invited to visit Washington D.C. and view all of the pieces on display.
