Former Shasta County Sheriff Eric Magrini is expanding his suit against the county, according to a story on KRCR. Magrini has already said that after he made the move from Sheriff to Assistant CEO, he faced frequent harassment, especially from Supervisor Kevin Crye, and that much of the unpopular opinion of him came from his obligation to enforce Covid regulations. He says he was accused of being a traitor to the Republican Party, but refused to break the law. Magrini says his wife was stalked at work and his granddaughter was harassed at school. He says Crye created a “toxic and terrifying work environment”. In March of 2023 Magrini took a medical leave due to stressful working conditions, and in August of 2024 he was fired. The suit says he cannot find another government job due to the county’s smear campaign against him. The newly amended part of the suit apparently says Kevin Crye led a bloc of conspirators who made a hit list to take down administrators who followed state COVID-19 guidelines. Magrini’s suit also says he was working on an impact funding agreement with Redding Rancheria when Crye undermined him by holding secret negotiations for an agreement that would bring far less money to the county. That agreement was later struck down by a judge because the impacted departments were not consulted. Magrini’s suit will likely not go to court until sometime next year.
