An investigation into stolen fencing has led to the arrest of a man suspected of property crimes throughout Shasta County. On Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies were called to Victoria Drive west of Redding about the theft of over a Thousand Dollars worth of chain-link fence panels. The property had been burned in the Carr Fire. Detectives traced the theft to 38-year-old Hunter Elias Smith of Old Shasta. He had been arrested earlier in the day on drug charges. A search warrant was served at his home on Miner’s Gulch Road, where the stolen fence panels were allegedly found. Smith was booked on additional charges of grand theft.
