A man was killed in a head-on collision near Shingletown Saturday evening. Just before 6 O’clock, a 63-year-old Shingletown man was driving a 2018 Honda Accord eastbound on Highway 44 west of Inwood Road when he veered across the double yellow center line into the opposing lane. He then steered to the right to return to his lane but the driver’s side of the car was struck by a westbound Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by Chan Saechao of Oakland, who was carrying three passengers, including 2 from Redding. All four women in the pickup sustained minor to moderate injuries. The Shingletown man was declared dead at the scene. The CHP says drugs or alcohol were not involved.
