Mothers Day weekend brought around 80 houseboats full of Oregon State University students to Slaughterhouse Island on Lake Shasta. Despite well-publicized problems with drunkenness and trash in years past, Forest Service officials say they want to give credit where credit is due this year. Silverthorn and Bridge Bay provided a garbage barge and the crowd of Oregon State Beaver Students took the time to clean up the island before leaving.
