Burn Ban Goes Into Effect In Redding On Friday

The extended backyard burning season for the City of Redding is over as of Friday. All burning within Redding City Limits will be suspended, and that will likely continue until the Fall rainy season. The fire department recommends chipping or discarding material in residential green waste containers. The material can also be taken to the Redding Transfer Station on Abernathy Lane. Anderson banned burning starting last Friday. Cal Fire Units for Shasta, Trinity, Tehama and Glenn Counties are requiring burn permits, which can be acquired for free online at burnpermit.fire.ca.gov. Burning can only be done after confirming it’s a burn day by calling 224-8777 in Shasta County or 527-3717 in Tehama County. A lot of information on making defensible space is at readyforwildfire.org.
