The Lone Stranger and Accomplice who pulled off the Asphalt Cowboys’ Tuesday’s mock robbery of the Five Star Bank were identified Wednesday as Redding Police Chief Brian Barner and Karline Niver, the owner of two Downtown Redding restaurants, Karline’s and Deja Vu. The person who figured it out and turned them in is Dan Kupsky, a retired Redding Police Sergeant. Kupsky gets $400 reward for his keen investigative work.
The Asphalt Cowboys loot was found Thursday. Illene Craft and Barbara Belcher found it taped to the back of a sign that warned of biting insects along the trail between the Sundial Bridge and Hilltop Drive. The reward on the third day of the search was $300.
