Susie Baugh was censured Tuesday night by the Anderson City Council for alleged improper actions related to the now defunct Pathways to Leadership campus project. A resolution to censure Baugh, drafted by Anderson Councilmembers Darin Hale and Bonnie Simmons, names a number of factors that led to their decision including an allegation that Baugh “used her title as mayor to misrepresent the city” in a grant application for the project, which was presented to the state as well as the Shasta County Board of Supervisors. The resolution also alleges that Baugh “engaged in activities which would have resulted in financial profits directly related to her elected position through her husband,” Les Baugh, a former council member himself, is the pastor of the Anderson Community Church on Balls Ferry Road where the campus would have been located. The council also voted to remove her from her committee assignments which will be filled by other council members. Baugh, who abstained from voting denied the allegations and said she is “completely innocent.”
