A man in his 80’s died following a house fire on Second Street in Old Shasta early Tuesday morning. Just after 1:30AM Jim Weaver was seen by arriving crews trying to escape through a window and did manage to make it to the street where he was given CPR, but he could not be revived. Weavers son, David, who lives in a home across the street was taken to UC Davis Burn Center where he remains in critical condition. A daughter, Becky was seen at Shasta Regional and released. She sustained minor injuries, but no burns. Crews had to be called back later in the afternoon after a flare up. The home was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
