Man Shot By RPD Officers Will Begin Trail On June 16th

A man who was shot by Redding Police last year will face trial in a couple of weeks. On March 26th of last year, Redding Police Officers were in the East Cypress Safeway parking lot when they saw 47-year-old David John Schaeffer sitting in a parked SUV and knew he had a felony warrant. One officer tried to box him in and pointed his gun at him, but Schaeffer started to maneuver around the police cruiser to flee and the officer fired two rounds at him, one of which struck him in the mouth. He was then chased down Alfreda Way before crashing. Shaeffer faces several felony charges.A jury trial is set for June 16th.
