Large Boulder Removal Will Cause Delays On Highway 299 Near Fall River

A danger of boulders falling onto the roadway will cause delays of up to an hour-and-a-half on Highway 299 in Eastern Shasta County. Caltrans will begin work west of Fall River Mills on Monday, and it will continue through the second week of June. Workers will be removing large boulders above the stretch of Highway 299 known as the “Pit One Grade”. While the work is underway, recreational use of that stretch of Fall River is also not advised. Updates on the work and the delays can be found on the Caltrans “Quickmap” site and app.
