Chico Man Who Attacked Family During Burglary Sentenced To Over 24 Years In Prison

A 52-year-old Chico man has been given a combined sentence of over 24 years in state prison for crimes committed in Shasta and Butte Counties. At 5AM on April 16th of 2021, Jeremy Raymond Brooks broke into a family’s home on Hollow Lane in North Redding and immediately attacked a male resident. The man’s wife hid in the bathroom with their daughter and called 9-1-1 while her husband struggled with Brooks, who struck him with a large wrench before fleeing out the door and over the back fence. He was seen driving away in a maroon Ford pickup, which responding RPD Officers spotted a short time later on Old Oregon Trail at Oasis Road. Officers chased the pickup all the way to Mountain Gate and onto Interstate 5, reaching speeds of around 100 miles an hour. The pickup exited at Fawndale Road and headed north, where Brooks was boxed in and surrendered at gunpoint. Last Thursday Brooks pled guilty to all charges, including burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, evading with willful disregard for public safety and stalking.
