The City of Redding wants to be sure it’s collecting all the bed taxes that are owed. A 10% transient occupancy tax is levied for hotels, RV parks and campgrounds. The tax also applies to short term rentals, but the system to collect the tax is not as simple since the huge growth of Airbnb, Vrbo and other online booking services. The city council will vote on an ordinance Tuesday requiring more data to be provided by owners and facilitators.
