Firefighters with the Shasta-Trinity National Forest responded Friday to several small wildfires sparked by lightning as thunderstorms moved across the region. Among the reported incidents was the Baker Fire near Baker Ridge, which burned approximately 0.1 acre. Crews remained on scene cleaning up the fire area. The Blue Fire, located east of Blue Mountain, was contained after burning about a quarter-acre. The Deer Fire, east of Deer Lick Road and Browns Creek, was limited to a single tree and has been extinguished. Firefighters also responded to the Whitney Fire, south of the intersection of Trinity Dam Boulevard and Montgomery Creek Road. The blaze was estimated at 0.1 acre, and crews continued suppression efforts Friday.
