Supervisor Crye Backs Placing Failed Ballot Measures On November Ballot

Two ballot measures that have previously been rejected by Shasta County voters may appear again in November. Both failed to get enough votes in 2024, but Supervisor Kevin Crye wants the Board of Supervisors to put them on the ballot again. Both would amend the county charter. One would restrict using eminent domain to transfer private land from one property owner to another. This is already forbidden by existing state law. The other provision deals with how county elected department heads are replaced if they leave before their term is complete. The board discussed the measures last week, and agreed to continue their discussion Tuesday.
