Neighbors Rescue Two Dogs From Burning Home In East Redding

An East Redding house was damaged by fire Saturday night. Located on Corral Court south of Rancho Road, the fire was reported by neighbors who saw dark smoke coming from the attic. The neighbors rescued two dogs from inside and arriving firefighters rescued two kittens. Fire damage was apparently minimal, but the home was filled with smoke.

A minivan completely burned up along Northbound Interstate 5 at the Hooker Creek Road exit Saturday evening. The driver pulled the Chrysler Town & Country van onto the shoulder at about 7:20PM and all the occupants safely got out. A couple of them tried to put the fire out but a few minutes later the van was fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading into the dry grass. It was stopped at about a quarter acre. Two of the three lanes of I-5 were shut down for about a half hour.
