A preliminary hearing has been completed for a man accused of pointing an AR-15 Rifle at a CHP Officer and then leading a high-speed pursuit. On May 6th of last year 40-year-old Jeffrey Dean Bembry was clocked for speeding on Southbound Interstate 5 and pulled over on the Mountain Gate Offramp. The CHP says he quickly got out of his car and approached the CHP vehicle while pointing the semi-automatic rifle at the officer, who was still in his patrol car. The officer put his cruiser in reverse and made as much distance as he could from the threat. Bembry then reportedly jumped back in his car and was chased southbound as other officers joined in until exiting at Oasis Road and heading west for about two miles. Bembry stopped in the middle of the road near Virgil Court, and was taken into custody. Last week Bembry was ordered to face charges on a half dozen felony counts. He’s being held on $250,000 bail and returns to court July 9th.
