Traffic backed up for several miles early Tuesday morning on Southbound Interstate 5 north of Lakehead. At 2:20AM a big rig jackknifed and wedged in between the hillside and the center divider a little south of the Slate Creek Overcrossing. No traffic could get through until about 4:40AM, after a heavy duty tow truck was able to pull the rig out of the way enough for one lane to pass through. A significant amount of Diesel, likely 80 Gallons, spilled with an unknown quantity running down a drain. The Sacramento River is about 300 feet away. The driver was not injured in the crash.
