The former Mayor of a Butte County town is accused of sexually assaulting a foreign exchange student who was staying in his home. On Thursday Gridley Police arrested the former Mayor of the Town of Biggs, 58-year-old Robert “Brian” Basset and booked him into jail on three felony counts of sexual assault of a minor. The alleged victim reported being repeatedly sexually abused while living with the host family.
