It was a scary day for West Cottonwood. A fire broke out around 12:30PM Monday afternoon off Happy Valley Road at Happy Hills Road, less than a mile north of West Valley High School. The “Hill Fire” was burning in heavy fuels with a moderate rate of spread, threatening homes in the area. Evacuations were ordered for two zones. Those were reduced to warnings by 2:30PM and the warnings were canceled around 5 O’clock. The fire was held to just over 16 acres.
