Here’s a rundown of some area fires over the weekend:
A fire started late Friday afternoon near Montgomery Creek. The “Creek Fire” was burning in oak and timber off Montgomery Creek Falls Road. Dozer line was completed around most of the perimeter Friday night. The fire was declared contained Sunday at 8.4 acres.
A fire in Shasta Forest Village in the Shingletown area Saturday evening destroyed the detached garage of a home on Bambi Drive. The fire made a very visible plume of dark smoke.
About a half acre burned Saturday on the southern slope of Mount Shasta. It was burning near the tree line, and was handled mostly with smoke jumpers and helicopters.
A grass fire off Highway 299 at Shady Meadows Lane near Bella Vista was held to a quarter acre Sunday.
Crews were completing mop-up and backhaul operations over the weekend on the 502 acre Brook Fire in the Jones Valley/Bella Vista area.
