Mt. Shasta Police Say Road Rage Assault Led to Pursuit

An apparent road rage incident led to a dangerous high-speed pursuit in Mount Shasta City. At 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon a Mount Shasta Police Officer at Bear Springs Road and South Mount Shasta Boulevard witnessed the drivers of two cars yelling at each other. He then saw one driver intentionally ram the other car before fleeing northbound at high speed, driving into opposing traffic. When the chase reached McCloud Avenue the officer unsuccessfully tried to stop the car with a pit maneuver. The chase continued to North Washington, where the driver ran stop signs. North of Upton Way a successful pit maneuver ended the chase. 58-year-old Melanie Charlotte Soletti was booked into jail.
