A fire that burned down an East Redding duplex Sunday morning has left a family with few options after they lost all of their material possessions. The building at 3543 Ricardo Avenue was a total loss. The six occupants of both apartments were all able to escape the building without injury, but one person was treated for smoke inhalation. Tyler Peterson, a single father, and his two young children escaped with only the clothes they were wearing. Their dog perished in the fire. Investigators determined the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials in an attached garage that links the two apartments. The Red Cross helped with temporary lodging, but Peterson’s family is in need of financial help to buy basis necessities and get back on their feet. Peterson’s sister has set up a GoFundMe account to help out.
