A fire in the far southeast corner of Lassen County has grown very large in just a few days. The “Bug Fire” started Saturday afternoon south of Hallelujah Junction. It’s now over 66,505 acres with no containment and is backing down the west side of the Petersen Mountain Range. There are a number of evacuation orders for both sides of the state line.
A wildfire burning through heavy timber north of Hoopa is still growing. The MP 18 Fire started late Friday afternoon, forcing the closure of Highway 96 and prompting a number of evacuation warnings. The fire is now 10% contained at 2,803 acres
A fire near Mantie and Hunt Roads in Montgomery Creek was stopped after burning about a half acre of timber Tuesday afternoon.
