Woman Suffers Severe Burns After Reportedly Being Lit On Fire By Her Boyfriend

Yreka Police say they arrested a man who caught his girlfriend on fire. On Monday of last week the victim was found on North Main Street suffering from severe burns. She was taken to Fairchild Medical Center and then transferred to U.C.Davis. Later that night the male suspect, who had been the victim’s boyfriend for 5 years, arrived at Fairchild saying he had been assaulted. He was booked into jail on several felony charges. Police say he had poured rubbing alcohol on the woman and her tent, lit her on fire, and fled the scene.
