A preliminary hearing is scheduled for a man accused of killing a neighbor 5 years ago. 55-year-old Nicholas Allen Beery has two pending cases. He’s charged with murder, with enhancements including lying in wait, for the 2021 death of Jim Redmill Senior. Redmill had been missing from the Trinity Alps Preserve and searchers eventually gave up. In May the case was re-opened after detectives learned of human remains that had been buried on an Igo property adjacent to the preserve. Beery is also charged with possession of an assault weapon, possession of a gun by a convicted felon and drug possession. His preliminary hearing is set for September 17th.
