A Chico man has been sentenced for the murder of a Redding woman in Siskiyou County. 67-year-old Erick Eugene Card was found guilty by a Siskiyou County jury on July 9th for the killing of Danielle Renee Bisnell, who was 28-years old when she vanished on December 8th, 2019. Bisnell left Redding and traveled to Central Oregon on Interstate 5 with Card, who she had met very early that morning at the 7-11 on Eureka Way. Redding Police detectives believed Bisnell was mentally unstable, and they say Card took advantage of her vulnerability. They believe that she pleaded with Card to return her to Redding for her son’s 7th birthday, but Card refused. The last time she spoke with friends and family was two days after she left, when she said she was on her way back home from Oregon with Card. While traveling, Bisnell was on a video call with a friend and turned the phone so card could be seen, which led to his later being identified. That night, he murdered her in Siskiyou County. Her body was never found, but Redding Police Detectives tracked down Card’s van in Lebanon Oregon in January of 2020. It obviously had been sanitized with bleach to eliminate any remnants of DNA, but traces of Bisnell’s blood were found anyway. He was arrested at his Chico home in 2023 by Siskiyou County Deputies. Crd had a history of befriending women who appeared distressed or intoxicated, usually at convenience stores, and he had done so with another woman just hours before his arrest. Multiple current, former and retired Redding Police Detectives spent hundreds of hours on the case.Card was sentenced Tuesday to 15-years-to-life in state prison. The lack of evidence did not allow for a conviction beyond second degree murder. At the sentencing hearing, Bisnell’s family pleaded with Card to reveal the location of her body.
